The Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC) Community Report of 2020 featured on its cover a sidewalk chalk illustration that referenced the many chalk illustrations of support that were left from neighbor to neighbor in 2020. It was a different year for everyone, and the community report acknowledged that. PHC’s staff worked from home for most of the year, so the report featured a few staff photos (shot from a safe distance) of their staff in front of their homes. I’ve worked on this report for many years and it was a challenge and a pleasure to do something different for 2020. Click here to view a PDF of the full report.
Blue Shield Health Ed Videos!
I recently wrote and animated several health education videos for Blue Shield of California. Here are two of my favorites…
Happy Holidays Everyone!
And boy do we need it this year. I’m so happy to send out my holiday card, with a poem I wrote in late April 2020 (planning ahead). At the time I wrote it, I thought, will it actually be relevant during the holidays (so far ahead?) Unfortunately it was. Next year will be different. Remember how everyone joked about how “2020” would be “20/20 clear vision” and all your “2020 vision goals will come true?” Well, let’s hope 2021 is “Lucky 21,” and (low bar) it will be better than 2020.
BSC Mission Report!
This year I designed Blue Shield of California’s annual report, which supports their initiative “Health Reimagined”. Check out a PDF of the full report here.
My Favorite PHC Annual Report
So there’s this expression, “the cobbler’s kids have no shoes,” which is also a handy way of explaining why I have no time to update this blog or website. And why I neglected to share (until now) my favorite Partnership HealthPlan of California annual report, which was the 2016-2017 report, which featured their four regions, (Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest). Patty Hayes of PHC and I worked on this and it is a beauty. Check out a PDF of the full report here.
April 2020 COVID videos
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Blue Shield of California asked me to create a couple of videos for their Instagram feed. At that time, we were just dealing (reeling some might say), with the “newness” of it all, so keep that in mind when checking these out.
Bonds. California Bonds.
I’m excited to be a part of the team that announces bond sales in California! Listen to the radio spot that I wrote announcing the most recent sale on March 9th, as well as the spot announcing the sale before that.
Outreach to Northern counties
A while ago I designed a campaign for California’s Lake and Mendocino counties, two counties that are hard to reach, in terms of what’s available for a media buy. We developed posters, postcards, online ads, and bus ads. The campaign urged women to get a PAP test, a test that only takes about five minutes.
Jettoe Holiday Card!
I’m so proud of this last year’s holiday card, which compared our San Francisco surf to snow… if you didn’t get one and you want a card next year let me know!
Blue Shield and Manifest MedEx
I helped Blue Shield of California develop an infographic which explains the benefits of a secure statewide Health Information Exchange. Blue Shield helped contribute data to the largest statewide nonprofit health information exchange, Manifest MedEx – I also helped create a video explaining this partnership, which you can view here.
Road to 2020!
I worked with the County Behavioral Health Directors Association (CBHDA) to layout their plan for 2020, which was used for a briefing with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Covered CA & Ogilvy
One of the things I’m most proud of is my work on Covered California, which I did as part of the communications team for Ogilvy Public Relations, the public relations partner for Covered California at the time. I produced this video a while ago, to remind the team of our good work, and remind us all of the work yet to be done.
PHC Recruitment Video
I’m proud to collaborate with Partnership HealthPlan of California once again, this time on their recruitment video, below…
PHC Anniversary timeline!
As part of Partnership HealthPlan of California’s 25th Anniversary, I helped them create a timeline mural for their lobby in Fairfield, California. The mural is eight and a half feet wide by six and a half feet tall, so it is large and prominent in the entryway of their main building. The design challenge was finding photos that represented PHC’s service area but would also have space to cleanly display all of their accomplishments. I’ve heard stories of how employees are proud to pass this mural every day on their way to work and I’m happy to be a part of that. Here’s a PDF of the completed mural if you’d like to read all of the milestones clearly.
PHC 25th Anniversary Video!
Here’s a video I produced, directed, and edited for Partnership HealthPlan of California’s 25th Anniversary. I interviewed the subjects, suggested the storylines and themes, and worked with PHC to create a video that motivated and celebrated all of their stakeholders who had a hand in their creation and success.
Blue Shield HIE Video!
Blue Shield of California asked Jettoe to write and produce an animated video that explains what a Health Information Exchange (HIE) is, and how it can improve the healthcare of Californians. Find out how Blue Shield’s partner, Manifest MedEx, makes it easier for doctors, hospitals and clinics to share critical patient information.
PHC 25th Anniversary Logo!
Congratulations to Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC) for 25 years of service to Northern California! To celebrate, they asked me to create a 25th anniversary logo that will be in use for all of 2019. The design that was chosen is an homage to their main logo, which features three river streams crossing three other river streams.
Think Wood Campaign
Think Wood is a campaign by the Softwood Lumber Board that aims to increase the demand for softwood lumber products in outdoor, residential and non-residential construction. Recently I wrote a series of five online video ads urging contractors to “Think Wood”. Check out the ads that focus on sustainability and affordable housing below. Click here to see the entire video series.
PHC Community Report
Recently I designed Partnership HealthPlan of California's annual report, which they renamed this year as their "Community Report”. This is line with their continuing focus on the 14 Northern California counties they serve and the diverse communities within them. A mix of heart-warming success stories and useful statistics, the 24-page report has been a big yearly project for me for the past five years. Click here to see a full PDF.
CBHDA Behavioral Health Conference!
In December I once again sponsored and helped create all of the materials for CBHDA's annual Behavioral Health Policy Forum. This year the conference took place at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. I designed name tags, signage, the program and promotional items. I also presented a seminar called, "Consumer Engagement Through Good Design," where I went over the basics of branding and some simple design principles. I ended the presentation by redesigning a flyer live on stage... a flyer that I pulled off the internet from one of the participant organizations... so the creator of the original (pretty bad) flyer could have been in the audience! (gulp) The forum was a tremendous success and I am proud to have been a sponsor.
